Cydectin® contains the active ingredient moxidectin. Moxidectin is a second generation macrocyclic lactone parasiticide of the milbemycin family which differentiates the molecule from the avermectins. It has high potency and a long persistency period against gastro-intestinal roundworms of sheep. It is also recommended for the prevention and treatment of scab. The product has a persistent action and protects sheep for a certain duration against infection or re-infection with the following parasites for the period indicated: Species Days Teladorsagia circumcincta 97 Haemonchus contortus 111 Trichostrongylus colubriformis 44 Psoroptes ovis 60 Trials have shown that moxidectin is effective against certain strains of Haemonchus contortus, Teladorsagia circumcincta and Trichostrongylus spp. resistant to benzimidazoles.In 2008, throughout Europe, moxidectin resistance has been very rare;
